A 42-year-old bicyclist was critically injured Monday morning when he was hit by an Amtrak passenger train heading south at the McQuade Street intersection, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. A home invasion was thwarted early Tuesday after a 19-year-old suspect was stabbed with a sword by the victim at the Sable Palms Apartments at 2150 Emerson St., according to the Jacksonville Sheriffâs Office. Duval and neighboring Northeast Florida counties will get a share of nearly $73 million in federal grants awarded to Florida to support 273 local homeless housing and service programs.
