    A man was killed late Tuesday when he was hit by a train at the railroad crossing on Emerson Street off Philips Highway, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Police said the unidentified man, in his mid-50s, was hit just before midnight by a freight train. The initial investigation indicates that the Norfolk Southern train was traveling south at 20 to 30 mph when the victim walked in front of it as he pushed his bicycle.
